Day 1 - We're Here

We're finally here. More than a year in the making, and now we're here. We left San Francisco this morning at 9:00am and arrived in Paradise five and a half hours later. We immediately drove to Princeville, on the north shore of Kauai, and checked into one of the most beautiful vacation homes we've ever seen.

The view of the Pacific from almost every window of the house is awe-inspiring and the sound of the waves crashing 100 feet below has an amazing calming effect. The house is haven for birds ... we have a baby albatross nesting in the front yard, two very determined red headed cardinals buzzing the lanai looking for a snack and half a dozen sweet sounding doves cooing at us from nearby palm tree perches. We're in heaven. And we haven't even hit the hot tub yet.
